This recognition marks the team's second consecutive and fifth overall appearance on this prestigious list, which recognizes the law firms that have handled "standout matters and groundbreaking legal work" over the past year.
Among the standout achievements that earned this accolade, Sheppard Mullin played a pivotal role in one of 2025’s most significant healthcare transactions. Sheppard Mullin is representing Ascension Health, the largest U.S. Catholic non-profit health system, in its acquisition of AMSURG, the second-largest ambulatory surgery center operator in the U.S., for a media-reported price of $3.9 billion.
Additionally, the firm advised SCAN Group, a not-for-profit healthcare company operating SCAN Health Plan, in its strategic collaboration with Sutter Health, a not-for-profit health system that provides care to over three million patients across California. The long-term partnership creates a jointly owned new Medicare Advantage health plan to service members in the Sutter service area and includes Sutter taking on downstream global risk for its health system.
