Overview

Carey Jordan is the chair of the Vorys intellectual property group and a leader in patent strategy and innovation management.  Her experience includes advising Fortune 100 to Fortune 500 companies, startups and research institutions on global IP portfolio management, patent prosecution, licensing and tech transactions and risk management.

Carey helps clients pragmatically approach and optimize IP spend, and to align IP strategy with business goals.  She regularly advises clients on strategic patent filing and prosecution, implementing early indicator approaches to streamline prosecution costs and maximize asset value.

Carey has pioneered the integration of generative AI and workflow analytics into patent operations, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive improvements in service delivery, quality and overall cost savings.  Carey’s thought leadership includes partnerships with leading academic institutions such as Stanford University (Vorys was the first founding advisor of liftlab) and presentations on AI ethics, practical adoption and the evolving legal landscape.

Carey is passionate about advancing women in STEM and has established scholarship initiatives to support future leaders in science and technology.

Carey received her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center.  She received her M.S. and B.S. magna cum laude from Clemson University.
