Overview
Shelby is an associate in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the firm’s labor and employment group. She adeptly represents employers in matters involving workplace harassment, wrongful discharge, discrimination and retaliation claims. In addition, Shelby has extensive experience assisting numerous employers with internal investigations, addressing issues such as bullying, harassment, inappropriate workplace behavior and disability discrimination. She has assisted employers in navigating the complexities of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act and has delivered presentations on best practices for diversity, equity and inclusion issues, as well as internal investigations, across multiple forums.
Shelby received her J.D. and a certificate in alternative dispute resolution from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, where she served as co-chief note editor for the Ohio State Business Law Journal and as secretary for the Black Law Students Association. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge Algenon Marbley of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Her student note, “A Pivotal Moment: Why the Resurgence of the Labor Movement & The Rise of E-Commerce May Call for a Modernization of National Labor Law,” was published in the 2023 spring edition of the Ohio State Business Law Journal. Shelby earned her B.A. in political science and pre-law from Michigan State University.
