Ohio Oil & Gas Association Annual Meeting

Ilya Batikov, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and member of the energy, finance and real estate group, spoke at the Ohio Oil and Gas Association Annual Meeting at the Hilton Columbus at Easton on March 4.  The title of his presentation was "Navigating Royalty Disputes in the Appalachian Basin: A Legal Update." 

The presentation examined recent court decisions affecting producer royalty obligations in the Appalachian Basin.  The discussion highlighted rulings addressing market enhancement clause leases, post-production cost allocation with overriding royalty interests and the application of West Virginia’s Wellman/Tawney doctrine.
