Vorys Expands Nationwide Economic Development Incentives Practice with New Partner

Vorys announced today that Robert Ballinger has joined the firm as a partner in the tax group.  He has nearly a decade of experience assisting clients with real estate and economic development incentives matters.  His experience includes helping clients take advantage of tax credits and incentives to assist in the development and redevelopment of property and the creation of jobs and economic growth.

“Over my career, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know many of the members of the Vorys team,” said Ballinger.  “I’m excited to join them at the firm and work hand-in-hand to help our clients expand in Ohio and across the Unites States.”

Ballinger also has significant experience assisting clients with the structuring and execution of the purchase, sale, development and financing of commercial real estate projects.  He has extensive experience negotiating purchase and sale agreements, development agreements, commercial leases, and loan documents, including transactions involving construction financing and permanent financing

“Our practice is one of the largest economic development incentives practices based in a law firm in the country and we are excited expand by adding Robert to the team,” said Scott Ziance, leader of the Vorys economic development incentives practice.  “Robert is widely known across the State of Ohio as a leader in real estate industry and he will bolster our practice and the services we offer to our clients.”

Ballinger currently serves as the president of NAIOP of Ohio, a statewide organization with over 500 members representing the commercial real estate industry across the state.  He also serves on the board of directors for the NAIOP of Dayton chapter, where he helps guide the organization’s advocacy and political engagement efforts.

Ballinger was named to the Dayton Business Journal’s 2025 “40 Under 40” list.  He has also been listed as “One to Watch” by the Best Lawyers in America and as an Ohio Super Lawyers “Rising Star.”

Ballinger earned his J.D. cum laude from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.  He earned his B.A. cum laude from The Ohio State University.
